Who can apply

Experienced physician whose current  responsibilities include significant work in interventional (catheter-based) treatment of congenital heart disease.

Becoming a PICS Society Fellow is our profession’s highest mark of distinction. The FPICS designation after your name and the FPICS certificate recognizes those who show deep experience in the field of minimally invasive treatment of congenital heart disease.

 

Eligibility

1 years’ experience following completion of training plus at least 100 interventional procedures as 1st operator post-training. If you have less than 1 years’ experience as first operator, apply as a “Member” (see below) then advise us  once you meet the experience milestone.  Applications from highly experienced/senior non-interventionalists (e.g., surgery, imaging, nursing, etc.) who work directly with interventionalists will also be considered by the Membership Committee.

  3. Reference letter from a supervisor or colleague attesting you have performed at least 100 minimally invasive congenital heart procedures (post-training) as first operator.

Interventionalists who have completed formal training BUT have not yet completed  one year in practice and the procedure volume criteria above:  apply as a Member.  Applications from colleagues who work directly with interventionalists will also be considered.

If you are in (or have been accepted into) a CHD interventional fellowship program, your membership will be FREE during training.

Emeritus / Emerita

of the PICS Society

FPICS Designation 

Eligibility

Fellow Emeritus / Emerita status will be conferred to experienced Fellows of the Society upon retirement from the ongoing, active practice of interventional treatment of congenital heart disease.

Fellows Emeriti will have all the rights (e.g. voting in elections, service as At-Large Board Members, committee leadership), responsibilities and benefits of PICS Society Fellows, with the exception that they will not be eligible to serve as an Officer (President, Vice President, Treasurer or Secretary).

Fellows Emeriti will not be required to pay dues and will be authorized and encouraged to continue using the “FPICS” designation.

Fellow Emeritus / Emerita status will be conferred by Membership Committee recommendation to the Board followed by Board approval, and is a lifetime appointment.
